Do a search for "Isshin-ryu kusarigama" and you'll find a kusarigama tradition that dates back to the 14th century. (Note: Isshin-ryu kusarigama has nothing to do with the modern 20th century karate-tradition, which is also called "Isshin-ryu").

Thanks, I don't know much about Samurai, I'm more interested in the Shinobi no Mono.

Yes the samurai used kusarigama on occasion, though not on the battlefield though. The chain needs lots of space and in a close-packed battlefield there is no room for it.I was once told that one of the uses for the kusarigama was by temple guards. That the kusarigama is a "ninja"-weapon only is pure myth.

This guy is good at KusariGamajutsu. By the way, wikipedia said these were used by Samurai. This can't be true, is it? In Ninjutsu, I asked my sensei the same thing, and he said very rarely.

Well, you may want to ask your teacher where HE learned Japanese then. Wakarimashita means I understand/understood. Wakarimaska means "do you understand?" They are not variables. One is asking another if they understand and one is saying that YOU understood.Wakarimaska? |
